Summer 2026
Exploring the balance between figurative structure and vibrant atmospheric light, this series documents a hot UK summer shared among close friends. Set against the landscapes of Delamere Forest and Formby Beach, these oil paintings focus on the unscripted moments between water polo teammates—capturing high sun on wet skin, dark shadows on dry timber, and unfiltered laughter across the sand.
Make it stand out.
Swapping the pool for a lake in Delamere Forest. On a scorching summer day with three of my water polo teammates, the jetty was so hot we had to keep throwing water over the planks just to sit on them—creating this incredible reflective surface that mirror-imaged the heat and light.
I wanted to capture the contrast between the intense midday sun and the relaxed, genuine conversation between them.
Make it stand out
Fresh out of the Irish Sea and adjusting to the glare.
Shades features my water polo teammate Aaron during a scorching day trip to Formby Beach. We spent hours drying off, reading books in the sand, and lounging by the dunes. Capturing him mid-smile as he adjusts his sunglasses, this piece leans into the brilliant summer heat and the vibrant, cloudless sky behind him.
